The 2016 Toyota Prius redesign is the fourth generation of the Prius model cars. The Toyota Company plans to start making it in its assembly plant in Blue Spring, Mississippi, U.S. in 2015 using hybrid components built in the U.S. unlike the past when it used parts imported from Japan.
This new model will be fitted with a new, smaller, ultra-efficient gasoline engine and powerful lightweight lithium ion batteries which is a switch from the Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. The new engine is expected to achieve a thermal efficiency rate of 40 percent which is a commendable improvement upwards from 38.5 percent in the current car.

Official reveal of the hybrid model is expected to happen during the next few months, most likely during the summer of this year when we will be able to see concepts and get additional details. Now word yet about the sale start date so we will have to wait little longer.
This new Prius model will get a significantly better fuel economy than its current 50 miles per gallon. It is tipped to match the 10 percent gains that Toyota has gotten in the last three generations of Priuses, thus, taking it up to 55 miles per gallon in combined city and highway driving.
The car will be able to accommodate five people that will experience a superb atmosphere within the car due to high technology features fitted inside it. In addition to that, the car will have a sun roof so that the passengers can feel the fresh air and warmth of the sun when driving. About safety, one should not be worried since the car will be fitted with the best safety system one could wish for.
It will have a lower chassis to improve its handling and aerodynamics, that is, low center of gravity and increased structural rigidity. Its interior will be nicer and the exterior design will be based on the Toyota New Global Architecture layout making it have a more road-hugging stance. The new design platform will reduce its weight by 20 percent the reason for superior fuel economy.

Its exact price is not yet known but due to its less expensive hybrid system its price can be brought down to around $24,000. Toyota hopes that the new model will help it achieve its goal of selling 5 million hybrids in the U.S. by 2016 up from 2 million. With improved fuel economy thanks to the new battery pack technology and in combination with more efficient engine it will be possible to get significant improvements.
